Ex Liverpool Player Jamie Carragher worried about the resurgence of Manchester United

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher admits he is ‘worried’ about the progress being made by Manchester United under new manager Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils are currently third in the Premier League — two points behind Man City in second.

Fans of rival clubs like Liverpool and Man City have enjoyed watching Manchester United demise since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, but that wasn’t going to last forever. Liverpool are having a dreadful season and City have breached over FFP 100 regulations as a result of a Premier League investigation.

United’s last trophy came in 2017 (Europa League), but Erik ten Hag has already secured United’s place in the Carabao Cup and we are still in the hunt in other competitions.

Meanwhile, there is sections of the media want you to believe that United are Premier League title contenders this season. That couldn’t be further from the truth because United are taking each game at a time, with the main objective being Champions League qualification. Anything else would be deemed a bonus for a team that is in transition.

Carragher is worried about United’s progress under Ten Hag.

“It does feel different to me under Erik ten Hag,” Carragher said on The Overlap. “I always felt there was a negativity around the previous managers. With Jose Mourinho it felt like there were problems between him and the board.

“With Louis van Gaal, I’m not sure the fans were ever on board with his style of football. And with Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], no one ever thought he would be a manager who could win United a title.

“But now it feels like they’ve got a manager who knows what he’s doing. Also, it feels like there’s a spirit at United that we haven’t seen for a while.

“It feels like that’s coming back. I think there’s something happening at Manchester United that I didn’t see with those other managers. So it’s worry, yeah!”
