'Gakpo's dream move was United, Van Dijk tempted him to join Liverpool': PSV coach Van Nistelrooy
"United did not make a bid in January, so I advised him to wait 'til the summer," PSV head coach and United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy said about Cody Gakpo, as quoted by The Telegraph.
"He refused my advice and listened to Van Dijk who tempted him to join Liverpool. He told me he wanted to move abroad in January.
“Gakpo's dream move was Man United, he was in contact with Ten Hag since August."
Gakpo joined Liverpool on an initial £37m fee from PSV. He's made six appearances for the Reds so far, failing to score.
He'd been linked with a move to United for several months before signing for Liverpool.
