Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that he would be partial to managing an international squad if the opportunity ever arose.
The Spaniard’s future at City could be in doubt after it was revealed yesterday that the club had been found guilty of over 100 financial rule breaches after a four-year investigation into the matter.
Back in 2020, City were hit with a two-year transfer ban over FFP breaches and in August 2022, Guardiola revisited the claims saying he believed no rules had been broken.
He also threatened to leave the club if the hierarchy ever lied to him over similar matters.
Now, with these new allegations coming to light, his quotes from 2021 have been dug up where he expressed his potential interest in taking a national team job.
“When I finish here [Man City], it would be a pleasure to live a World Cup or Euros. I would like that but normally it is not easy because there are so few positions.
The feeling around many other Premier League sides is that they want Manchester City relegated if they are found guilty of the charges and they don’t want to change old league tables.

“I would like it to happen but if it doesn’t I will train a club. And in England, always I will be Man City.
“Years ago, I never thought I would be the Manchester City trainer and that I would be here for six seasons. Never. Life dictates your future and we will see what happens.”
City are likely to appeal the claims made against them, but it is unconfirmed in what capacity they will be punished.
