The Man United takeover situation is getting heated up with multiple parties having submitted their offers to buy the club.
The two major contenders, for now, are British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
Both are very ambitious but have offered different bids. Al Thani wants 100% control of the club and has assured to cancel of all debt as well as significant investment in the team.
Ratcliffe only wants majority ownership and not full control from the Glazers, while he also asures to get the Red Devils back to the top.
When it comes to the net worth of the two, however, Ratcliffe wins the contest. The British businessman has an estimated net worth of £10.9bn. Al Thani, however, only has an estimated net worth of around £1.56bn.There is, however, a twist to his tale.
You see, Al Thani belongs to the royal family of Qatar – with his younger brother being the owner of PSG and the Emir of Qatar. In total, their family has a net worth of £275bn – blowing almost every other Premier League clubs’ owners out of the water.
Only Newcastle United’s owners, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, has a higher worth at £479bn.
In comparison, the Chelsea ownership consortium’s worth is £13bn – while the Man City owners have a net worth of £23.2bn.
Al Thani’s bid has come via his Nine Two foundation and despite his net worth being relatively lower than the other owners, he can use his family’s financial power to add major investment to Unitedd.
