Barcelona were once again robbed of a penalty in an European competition in the match against Manchester United. After a header from Sergi Roberto, the ball hit Fred's hand, but neither the referee nor VAR intervened.
Xavi was furious after the game and understandably so. A penalty would've been a big opportunity to make the score 3-2 in our favour, giving us an important advantage ahead of the away match at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time this season that the referees ignored a clear for Barca in European competitions.
In the first match against Bayern Munich, there was an obvious foul on Ousmane Dembele inside the penalty box at 0-0. The game ended in a 2-0 win for the Bavarians.
In the match against Inter Milan, there was a handball on Denzel Dumfries. The score was 1-0 in Inter's favour and that would've been a nearly-guaranteed equalizer.
Of course, the bad refereeing decisions are not the only reason for our bad performances in Europe, but that definitely plays a role.
