Chelsea head coach Graham Potter said after the Southampton game: "You have to see it for what it is, in terms of today, we had to make some changes because of the Champions League.
"[B]oys coming back from injury, when you make those changes it can be difficult against a team that’s well-prepared."
'Well-prepared' is the last word one want to use describing Southampton. The Saints lost four games out of last five before the Chelsea match. They sacked manager Nathan Jones a week ago and had Ralph Hasenhuttl reject their approach.
Their interim manager was Ruben Selles, who works at Soton as a coach and had never managed any team on a permanent basis, with the exception of Valencia's youth team.
Southampton were (and remain even despite the victory) bottom of the Premier League table.
This is anything but 'well-prepared'.
