Graham Potter is under intense fire from pundits and the vast majority of Chelsea fans online.
The Englishman appears to have made things worse at the Bridge after replacing Thomas Tuchel at the wheel in September, with the Blues languishing in the 10th place in the league, out of both domestic cups and close to getting eliminated from the Champions League.
The Southampton defeat was the boiling point for many, yet there are still some fans who believe in Potter's ability to turn things around. They have the floor.
Iewdawg: "We survived 15/16 Chelsea, we’ll survive this. Rome wasn’t built in a day"
TheDarkKnight787: "Good to see them sticking with their decision. Bringing Potter and all his backroom staff over not to mention all the recruitment side of things plus all the new signings... none of this could have been a quick decision for Todd.
"It sounds easy to sack Potter atm but if you do that, it means completely replacing the new philosophy you’ve just installed into the club. It makes no sense! (What was the point of making all those changes if you are just gonna be as trigger happy as Roman was)
"If this really is gonna be a “project” then the Todd and the board have to stick with Potter regardless of results... for the short term at least.
"Although I didn’t want Potter at the club to begin with, I think you’ve got to stick with him till the end of the season then change?"
Gonzaf: "I wouldn’t say I’m Potter In I just think people will be in for a surprise when we get a new manager in and the same issues still show up in the squad.
"Potter has not done himself any favors in any department like at least if the results aren’t galvanizing the squad try to do it emotionally but he’s not even doing that which fair enough might not be his nature. He makes very questionable decisions like starting Mount and then keeping him on after halftime as a striker and taking Fofana off.
"We’ve been creating more chances lately and with better finishing and luck our record this month would have been much better. Now I don’t really care if he gets sacked or not as I don’t think it will make a difference for this season but this result has made it almost impossible to defend sticking with him beyond this season tbf.
"Just don’t see owners sacking him this season and really don’t see a point when this season is a wash."
Mark Worrall: "Stamford Bridge is still here. There have been worse, significantly worse, situations that Chelsea FC has been in since 1905. Everything has felt rushed since the Roman era ended & results suggest errors have been made as a consequence. Time will tell. Patience is needed."
Jay_Jay_Okocha10: "From an outsider's perspective it would seem pointless to sack him now. The team won't get the Champions League and they aren't close to being relegated, he's clearly a talented manager and having 13 new players to integrate would be difficult for any manager.
"Why not give him to the end of the season to try to prove himself and if he doesnt make a change then?"
Separatebrah: "I think losing to Southampton was a statement but maybe my patience extends another 3-4 games."
