'We are going down with a billion in the bank': Man City fans react to relegation reports

An official investigation into Manchester City's alleged breaches of its financial rules over the last nine years has been opened by the Premier League.

Some media outlets in the United Kingdom have referred to the latest news as 'biggest controversy the league has ever faced'.

It has been suggested that Pep Guardiola's side could even be relegated to the Championship and stripped of their pre-2018 titles.

And Man City supporters understand just how serious the allegations are and what their club could be facing in the near future.

Adam00000012 (via /r/MCFC): "Self-sponsorship issues was pretty obvious. Being sponsored by your owners other business is always ripe for rigging. This is big. No point pretending it's not."

Azux_YT: "This looks serious actually — not sure how we're going to get out of this one if there's actual evidence as opposed to leaked emails."

mcfcliam1: "We are going down with a billion in the bank, f***ing roll on the Championship."

saketho: "This is hard to process. There is a big side of me that hopes this was just clever accounting/clever business, yet still legal business, on the side of City. Surely they wouldn't something as big as having the club tanked? Please?"

Binary_Voyager: "So worst case scenario is expulsion from the league and best case scenario is points deduction or a transfer ban if allegations are true?"
