On February 18, Chelsea suffered a home defeat against Southampton. The Saints werer at that time a team without the manager, with four losses in last five games — and comfortably sat bottom of the league table.
It felt like a new low for the Blues and Graham Potter, with many fans who previously backed him unable to keep their trust in the manager after that game.
Journalist Adam Newson reports how the dressing room experienced the defeat — and it's an interesting read.
“Speaking to people around the club, there was an expectation from players after the Southampton game they’d be chastised almost but it was still measured from Potter, players were surprised,” Newson told the View From the Bridge podcast.
“It’s not an ideal place where you want to be when people are referencing Tuchel back at you because that era is over but it shows players sometimes do need that kick up the backside.”
