Dani Alves' wife confirms divorce from former Barcelona superstar in emotional handwritten letter, Reac

Joana Sanz, now ex-wife of former Barcelona defender Dani Alves, has confirmed her divorce from the incarcerated superstar with an emotional handwritten letter, as obtained by Marca:

"Since I was a child, I have been writing down my feelings to express myself, I suppose because I am an only child," Sanz wrote on Instagram.

"Whatever the reason, it does me good. I would love for the lines written here to be ones of love and happiness, but that's not the case.

"These have been horrible months, not the hardest of my life, because I have faced many storms, but very dark and painful ones. The feeling of abandonment and loneliness knocks on my door again.

"Thousands of unanswered 'why's'. I chose as my life partner a person who in my eyes was perfect."

In another part of the letter, Sanz revealed how Alves broke her by getting involved with the woman who is now accusing him of rape.

"He was always there when I needed him most. He always supported me in everything, always pushed me to grow, always loving, and attentive.

"It's so hard for me to accept that this person could break me into a thousand pieces," Sanz writes.

"I think it's going to take me years of life to get over the way he looked at me as if I was the most incredible thing in the world.

"I'm amazing because I'm hard-working, independent, intelligent, thoughtful, caring, fun, loyal. Human. So human that despite the damage he has caused me, I am still here by his side.

"I am still and will continue to be, but in a different way. I love him and I will always love him. Whoever says that love is forgotten is either self-deluding or did not really love," she concluded.

"It is time to move on to the next stage," Sanz concludes.

Alves is still locked up in a prison cell in Barcelona after being accused of raping a woman in a Barcelona nightclub. The 39-year-old was denied bail after a judge stated he could flee the country if released.

The defender has already been sacked by his former club Pumas UNAM.
