Steven Gerrard riled up Celtic fans by scoring and celebrating in front of them in their legends charity match against Liverpool - with the Rangers faithful lapping it up
Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard had objects thrown at him by Celtic fans after he scored for Liverpool in their legends match .
Gerrard gave the hosts the lead from the spot as he made his return to Anfield for a charity match in aid of the LFC Foundation and other causes. After doing so he headed straight towards the 4,000 travelling fans.
It's safe to say Gerrard's overzealous celebrations, which saw him raise his hands and jump in the air, didn't go down well. Various projectiles came raining down from the Celtic end towards the Liverpool players.
One supporter even took off their top and launched it, but it didn't make it out of the stand. Gerrard continued to give it to them as he made his way back to the centre circle.
Even though he made an acrimonious exit to join Aston Villa in November 2021, the Rangers faithful lapped up their former manager's stunt.
One tweeted: "You love to see it." A second echoed: "File that under things you to love to see." And a third wrote: "Shows them no respect LOVE IT."
"Couldn’t have gone any better," commented a fourth, while a fifth joked: "Time (and s***house celebrations) really does heal all wounds."
A sixth hailed: "Great content. Will watch again and again." Before a seventh added: "Throwing stuff at him too at a charity game, good to see they still aren't over 55 yet."
Liverpool's legends side, who were managed by Sir Kenny Dalglish, doubled their lead in the second half thanks to former midfielder Mark Gonzalez's strike in front of the Kop, which secured a 2-0 victory.
