Potter explains why he didn't bring on Kante for Everton clash

Speaking on his decision to not bring on N’Golo Kante to help get Chelsea over the line against Everton on Saturday, Graham Potter said: “Kante is there on the bench and he is ready.

“It was a difficult one to come into for his first game, he has been away for so long but he’s ready.”

Instead of bringing on the experienced midfielder, Potter opted to bring on Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek – who couldn’t really make any major impact.

Kante has been out of action for Chelsea since August, but finally regained his fitness to help the team towards the end of the season.

The Frenchman should be back in action after the international break and will need to play a major role for the Blues to defeat Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.
