Reece James officially ruled out of Leeds game

Reece James will not play for Chelsea today in the game against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge. The defender has a tight hamstring and the game comes too soon for him.

Speaking to the Chelsea website today, head coach Graham Potter said:

“Reece is feeling a bit of tightness which is sometimes understandable coming back from injury.

"We have been assessing him this week and feel it is too soon for the game today.

“There is a strong chance he will be available for Tuesday but this game comes too soon,” Potter added.

What it means is that Chelsea are now praying they can have James back for the Champions League game against Dortmund on Tuesday.

James have suffered a lot from injuries this season. A hamstring problem forced him to miss the World Cup last December. He returned for the game against Bournemouth but suffered yet another injury in the same area.

Chelsea are without Thiago Silva, Christian Pulisic, Edouard Mendy and N'Golo Kante for the game. Earlier, Potter confirmed that Mason Mount is also out with an abdominal issue.
