Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim submit record bids to buy United - Glazers stance revealed

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani have both submitted increased bids to take over Man United, claims the Guardian.

While neither of the parties want to reveal exact details or value of their bids, they are expected to top the biggest bid made in the first round of bidding – which was £4.5bn.

Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan adds that Sheikh Jassim remains confident that his bid – which is debt free – will win the bidding process and is the best one in the process.

Sir Jim has reportedly made a bid of over £5bn, while Sheikh Jassim’s offer is rumored to be around £5.5bn.

While the Sheikh’s offer has been confirmed to be a ‘world record’ bid by Sky Sports, Sir Jim’s is also expected to be a record-setting one for a football club – as no club has been sold for that amount.

However, the Guardian cite sources close to the situation claiming that the bids might fall short of the Glazers asking price of £5bn and £6bn – with the latter their desired amount to get from the sale.

Now, there will be some days to wait as the Raine Group and Glazers will examine the bids. They could name a preferred bidder if a particular offer pleases them.

But if that doesn’t happen and all bids fall short of their valuation, then they could have another round of bidding and stop the United sale from being fast-tracked.
