"I don't think Barcelona bought referees. Neither them nor any other club. But these payments to Negreira for 20 years give the feeling of them wanting to have influence. We cannot idly stand by. It would be serious misconduct in sports," Mundo Deportivo quote La Liga president Javier Tebas saying.
"This is the biggest institutional crisis in the history of La Liga. The reputational damage to Barca and La Liga is enormous.
"I haven't talked to Laporta since November. But I am asking for explanations. They cannot act as a victim. There is too much talk about it but I think he is taking the wrong path by going against me."
Judging by Tebas's comments, the media outrage is definitely bigger than this case deserved as some are speculating that Barca could be stripped of titles and relegated from the league.
Laporta has said that there is a smear campaign against Barca and he is ready to prepare the club.
