'They're having a little discussion like they're in Starbucks': Roy Keane slam 'USELESS' West Ham defending in second-half collapse at Man United

West Ham became the latest target of a scathing rant by Roy Keane on Wednesday, as the no-nonsense pundit slammed the Irons' 'useless' defending during Manchester United's 3-1 win at Old Trafford.

The Carabao Cup winners started slowly and fell behind to Said Benrahma's opener for the visitors early in the second half, before launching a stunning late comeback to secure their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

After Nayef Aguerd's unfortunate own goal levelled the scoreboard in the 77th minute, Alejandro Garnacho and Fred struck a quickfire double in injury time to break Hammers hearts and knock them out of the competition.

But according to Keane, who was joined in the ITV studio by fellow pundits Joe Cole and Ian Wright, the defeat was more down to West Ham's shocking defending than United's positive reaction after going behind.

Analysing the goals after the match, the Manchester United legend felt West Ham's players were too passive in their approach, focusing more on talking than on defending physically and aggressively.

'They're having a little discussion, like they're in Starbucks,' he urged. 'Come and take people out - come with violence. That's your job!

'Defensively West Ham were shocking. Absolutely useless second half. They gave up three goals. Give United all the credit for the reaction, we said that at half time, the really good teams find a way to win.

'That's what they've done tonight. Set piece delivery, we saw that at the weekend. Contribution from subs, Fred scoring (this time). No surprises what we've seen tonight.

'The two lads here (Cole and Wright) are obviously happy with West Ham's performance tonight. But honestly, it's laughable.'

When asked whether he feared a Manchester United defeat at any stage of the match, Keane simply laughed off the suggestion, urging that clubs who fail to take their chances never prosper at Old Trafford.

Michail Antonio, standing in for cup-tied hitman Danny Ings, was gifted a glorious chance to take the lead in the first half but fluffed the opportunity, leading to a 0-0 stalemate at half time.

Keane claimed that West Ham resembled the 'Spurs' of this world' during the 3-1 defeat, exciting fans with a hopeful performance before stumbling to a defeat as a result of poor defending and missed chances.

'I've seen it all before. They come, get a bit giddy, have opportunities,' Keane insisted after the match.

'Loads of teams do it, not just West Ham. The Spurs' of this world. They come to Old Trafford, have a little bit of possession, have two chances and are all excited. They get plaudits and then end up getting beaten.'

Incidentally, Tottenham were humbled by Championship high-flyers Sheffield United in their FA Cup fifth round tie on Wednesday night, losing 1-0 at Bramall Lane.
