Van Dijk, Jota, Konate miss training ahead of Man United game — reason revealed

Ahead of preparations for the big game between Liverpool and Manchester United on Sunday evening, the trio of Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota all missed Friday's training session at the AXA Training Centre.

Although Jurgen Klopp did not provide any injury updates about the players in his press conference on Friday, their absence raised eyebrows among onlookers.

According to sources around Liverpool, the aforementioned players were following personal training routines as the club manages their fitness, hence their absence from the group.

Jota recently clocked 76 minutes in a game for the first time since October. Konate started that game at Wolves after just recovering from injury. Van Dijk is also getting back to his full fitness.

Klopp did not include Rhys Williams in the squad that trained on Friday despite Joe Gomez's injury. It means VVD and Konate are fine.
