Wesley Fofana has received his first call-up to the senior France team.
The Chelsea centre-back could feature for Les Bleus in the Euro 2024 qualifiers against the Netherlands and Ireland.
"It’s happened now, it could have happened before, he had a serious injury too. It was time," France head coach Didier Deschamps told a press conference about the 22-year-old.
Fofana has been unlucky with injuries over the course of his short career. He missed almost the whole of the 2021/22 season before moving to Chelsea.
Since then, he has also had some knee problems, missing around 20 games between October and February.
