Arsene Wenger brings Alexandre Lacazette to tears with emotional tribute to former Arsenal star

Alexandre Lacazette was brought to tears after hearing tributes from former managers and team-mates, including ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Lacazette's return to Olympique Lyonnais has been an unmitigated success.

The 31-year-old has been a talismanic figure for Lyon this term, having claimed 19 goals and four assists in his 28 Ligue 1 appearances.

Indeed, his goals have come at crucial times too. Besides Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, no Ligue 1 player has won as many points for his team this season.

The resurgence in Lacazette’s career has come after a five-year spell at Arsenal where he claimed 71 goals and 36 assists in 206 appearances.

And this weekend, an entire one hour Telefoot special will be dedicated to Lacazette, exploring his Lyon career by focusing on the testimonies of relatives, players and coaches.

Lacazette brought to tears

In a clip shared by Telefoot ahead of Sunday’s special, Lacazette is brought to tears by the tributes of his teammates, past and present, as well as legendary former Arsenal manager, Wenger.

In the 40 second clip, Matteo Guendouzi, who played with Lacazette at Arsenal, says: “I’m very lucky to know you and very lucky to have a friend like you. Ciao brother. See you soon.”

Moreover, Wenger added: “He’s a real fighter. He never gives in.”

Samuel Umtiti, who in the past played with Lacazette at Lyon, said: “I hope that at the end of our career we’ll have the opportunity to play together again and celebrate our goals together as we did in the past.”
