Ben Foster's decision to stay boosts Wrexham's bid for Premier League promotion

After clinching the National League title on Saturday, Wrexham has caught the attention of bookmakers who are predicting that the club will make a strong bid for promotion to the Premier League.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Hollywood A-listers who own Wrexham AFC, were emotional as they watched their team fight back from a goal down to defeat Boreham Wood and secure the National League title. The win marked Wrexham's return to the English Football League after a 15-year absence.

Wrexham AFC, also known as the Red Dragons, conceded an early goal to Lee Ndlovu of Boreham Wood in the first minute of their crucial National League match. However, they quickly equalized with a goal from Elliott Lee. Paul Mullin, the top scorer in the National League this season, then scored twice to bring his tally to an impressive 38 goals and secure victory for Wrexham, clinching the title for the Welsh club.

While the squad and owners of Wrexham AFC revel in their triumph, they remain focused on the future and the challenges that lie ahead. With their return to the English Football League secured, the club is determined to build on their success and take the next steps to further advance their standing in the sport.

Speaking to ESPN back in January, Reynolds revealed the lofty ambitions he and his co-owner have for the club, which included the top flight of English football. He said: "We want to walk the walk, even as a fifth-tier club. We say this all the time, but we want to be in the Premier League, as crazy as that sounds to some people.

"If it is theoretically possible to go from the fifth tier in professional football all the way to the Premier League, why wouldn't we do that? Why wouldn't we use our last drop of blood to get there? We're in it for the ride. This is a multidecade project."
