'I tried to put pressure on takers': De Gea reveal penalty tactics despite not saving a single penalty

David de Gea, the goalkeeper of Manchester United, has shared that his strategy during the match against Brighton & Hove Albion was uncomplicated: to apply pressure on the penalty takers.

Despite not making any saves during the shootout, the Spanish player didn't have a major impact. Nonetheless, he was able to secure a victory as Solly March from Brighton missed his penalty and sent the ball over the bar.

Manchester United were unable to score in their match against Brighton at Wembley, resulting in a goalless draw. However, they were able to secure a victory in the shootout with a score of 7-6. As a result, they have advanced to the FA Cup final next month where they will face off against Manchester City.

After the semi-final victory, De Gea spoke with the BBC and stated that he was ready for the penalty shootout and had a specific strategy in mind. He mentioned:

"It was a very tight game we played a very good team. Brighton play really good football. We are now in the final but we have another big game on Thursday so we need to go home and recover. They were great penalties. I was prepared as always. I tried to put pressure on the takers."

"There's still a long way to the final but it will be a big game against one of the best teams in Europe and the world. We showed at home we can beat them [Man City] so let's hope. We are on the right track. One trophy, another final and fighting for the top four. It's not enough but it's a big step from last season."

Throughout this season, the Spanish goalkeeper has maintained a total of 22 clean sheets in 49 appearances across various competitions while playing for Manchester United.
