James Maddison has transferred himself out of own Fantasy Football team ahead of Man City game

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has reportedly 'sold himself' on Fantasy Premier League ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Saturday – and he's found a suitable replacement.

The 26-year-old England international, who is currently ranked 64,000 in the world on FPL, has chosen a forward three of Ollie Watkins, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland ahead of Gameweek 31.

He has also opted for a midfield four containing Three Lions teammate Bukayo Saka, who has been in the form of his life for league leaders Arsenal, and in-form Gunners teammate Gabriel Martinelli.

Brighton man Solly March also features alongside Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise – the new £5.5 million signing in Maddison's impressive starting XI.

According to Twitter user @FPLFocal, it means Maddison has transferred himself out his own personal Fantasy Premier League team for this weekend's fixture. "Maddison sold himself for Olise," the account said.

Here's how social media reacted to the news.

One fan said: "This is the saddest thing I’ve heard today," while another commented: "He saw Manchester City in the fixture list and said adios."

A third wrote: "I kept Maddison. Hopefully he scores his annual banger against City."

A fourth added: "Maddison is ranked 64k?? Wow this guy is smart."

Back in October, a list of verified teams that are made by Premier League players was released on fplbot, meaning we got to see Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny’s incredible Fantasy team name.

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips went for an FPL classic by naming his side ‘chickentikkamosalah’ in reference to Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

Leicester City defender James Justin was clever, calling his team ‘Just In Time’. But the name that got the most attention was Elneny’s, who simply called his side ‘Winner team’.

You can see the full list here.
