Joao Cancelo appears to aim dig at Pep Guardiola ahead of Champions League reunion

Joao Cancelo appears to have aimed a dig at Pep Guardiola ahead of their reunion as Bayern Munich face Manchester City in the Champions League.

Cancelo is in line to play for Bayern against Man City despite being on loan from the Premier League club, having joined during the January transfer window.

His move to the Bundesliga side transpired after his relationship with the Spaniard broke down following a reported training ground bust-up.

And speaking ahead of the Etihad clash, the Portuguese hailed his new team's coaching staff and discussed their principles - seemingly directed at Guardiola and Co.

"Bayern Munich is a club that considers discipline to be very important. The staff at Bayern are very professional - and I can identify with these principles," he said.

The 28-year-old also expressed his desire to beat Man City and touched on the differences between the Premier League and the Bundelsiga.

"I am a very competitive player and I don't like losing. I never give up, it sums up who I am," he added.

"Discipline as well, as I am a professional and hard-working footballer, with a strong personality."

On life in Germany compared to England, he continued: "The Premier League is very competitive, with strong players physically and technically. But the Bundesliga has definitely surprised me with organised teams and good players.

"Maybe the Premier League has a bit more intensity, but I think overall they're pretty similar."

If Cancelo does features against Man City, then he could come up against fellow countryman Ruben Dias, who said it will be a 'strange' experience.

"It will be strange," the Blues defender said. "But it is what it is. It's football. It's the life we live, and in a way, it will be good to play against him."
