Mauricio Pochettino 'willing to offer Romelu Lukaku another Chance if appointed Chelsea boss'

According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Romelu Lukaku could get another chance at making it work at Chelsea. The club could offer the 29-year-old a chance to work with potential incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino, hoping to revive his career at Stamford Bridge.

There have been some strange decisions with Romelu Lukaku, whose future remains in significant doubt ahead of the summer. The 29-year-old Chelsea star signed two years ago in a then-record deal from Inter Milan but returned to the San Siro on a loan deal after a year.

Lukaku has recently regained some of his lost form, helping Inter into the Champions League semifinals. However, that will not convince the Nerazzuri to retain his services, as a return to Stamford Bridge seems imminent for the 29-year-old Chelsea star.

Earlier reports indicated that Chelsea could sell him on a massive loss. Other stories suggested they could include him in a part-exchange deal to permanently sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. One way or another, the club will evaluate his future ahead of the next window, the Blues needing to trim their squad.

Chelsea does lack a striker in their ranks, and there are significant doubts about whether they are ready to pay big to sign one. They might see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang depart the club while Armando Broja recuperates from his season-ending knee injury.

The potential arrival of Mauricio Pochettino could give Chelsea a vision with Lukaku. The Argentine manager leads the race to become their next man in the dugout, and going by his history with strikers; the Belgian could flourish.

Harry Kane remains the prime example of a struggling striker who made a huge mark under Pochettino. Similarly, Chelsea would hope Lukaku revives his career here and becomes an important member of this side next season. Whether they are successful with talks around the summer remains the question.

There’s plenty left in Lukaku as a player, and he remains one of the most fearsome frontmen in Europe. He did not want to play under Thomas Tuchel, and with the German now gone, the doors of opportunity could open again. Whether he stays at Chelsea remains the question, but he undoubtedly could become a solid option for the Blues.
