Gary Neville, a hero of Manchester United, has stated that Arsenal is now considered the preferred team to win the Premier League title this season, surpassing Manchester City.
Neville's statement reflects the current state of the Premier League, where Arsenal has been performing consistently and impressively, while Manchester City has had some unexpected losses and setbacks. Arsenal's recent form and consistency have elevated them to the top of the table, which has given them an edge over their competitors.
However, it's important to note that the Premier League is a fiercely competitive league, and any team can lose or gain ground at any given time. Therefore, Arsenal's position as favourites can easily change based on their upcoming performances, as well as the performances of other title contenders.
Nonetheless, Neville's assessment is based on Arsenal's impressive display of attacking football, strong midfield, and a solid defensive unit. If they can maintain this form and momentum, there's a good chance that Arsenal can clinch their first Premier League title in many years.
Speaking about whether or not Arsenal would clinch the trophy on the Overlap YouTube Channel, he said: "Look, I said at the start of the season no, obviously. I said about three weeks ago, no.
"I actually think they've just turned favourites in the last week or so. I think honestly, that night when you went out of Europe on penalties, I think that was a big, big moment that, because it clears up the whole of the rest of the season.
"City have obviously got Bayern Munich and then Real Madrid if they get through in the Champions League. They've got the FA Cup. They've got so much more.
"I mean, Arsenal have got that period where they play I think it's Liverpool away, West Ham away, Newcastle away, (Manchester) City away and then I think its Chelsea at home. That's a tough five games that, you look at those games. So there's still a long way to go but I think the fact (that) you've cleared that sort of path to the end of the season, I do think now Arsenal are slight favourites."
