Rodri Leaves No Room for Debate: Fans Believe he has Surpassed Casemiro by Miles

Fans have concluded that Rodri has ended the debate between he and Casemiro after the Manchester United struggled in his latest outing.

United were 2-0 up and flying in the first half through goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford but gave up their lead to draw 2-2 after Heung-Min Son followed up Pedro Porro's wonderstrike.

Casemiro looked extremely leggy in midfield - understandable after playing 45 games in his debut season because of how badly United need him to start.

The four-time Champions League winner lost the ball 15 times and had a pass accuracy of 82% at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While the Brazilian has had a fine first season in the Premier league even with the suspensions he has had, plenty have decided that he is still a level below City's defensive midfield general Rodri.

The Spain international is arguably City's most important player and has been phenomenal for Pep Guardiola's side, to the point where £40 million signing Kalvin Phillips simply can't get a sniff in.

He's been unbelievably consistent and even chipped in with big goals in addition to his unrivalled smelling of danger and play dictation.

And many have come to the conclusion that Rodri is clear of Casemiro in the debate between the pair is finished.

"Casemiro been dropping so many stinkers. Should be common knowledge now," one fan wrote, accompanying it by a picture of Rodri, a greater than sign and Casemiro.

A second followed up; "Rodri clears , that’s a common knowledge."

A third added: "Another Casemiro stinker makes me appreciate Rodri's consistency performing at a high level."

A fourth weighed in: "Don’t you dare to compare Rodri to Casemiro ever again! He is miles clear of that fraud."

Another opined: "Some of you genuinely think Casemiro is better than Rodri that is so crazy to me."

A sixth user stated: "Anyone who thinks Casemiro is as good as Rodri must only care about scoring from set pieces."

Rodri has been with City since 2019, having joined in a then-club-record £62.8 million move from Atletico Madrid.

He played an integral role in back-to-back Premier League titles and could well help City achieve a historic treble if they are successful in all competitions.

But even though he gets compared to the likes of Casemiro on a regular basis, Rodri sees himself a bit differently to his competition.

"I want to be the best," Rodri said in a recent interview with The Telegraph.

"That's my duty every day. I see myself from the first year when I came here to now and I grow a lot.

"I thought I had good qualities and condition when I came but now I see myself with experience, coaching, what I've learned from opponents.

"My aim is to be the best but other people have to decide. I don't consider myself the same type of player as other holding midfielders. I have my own way of understanding and playing that I think is quite different from Casemiro, Fabinho, N'Golo Kante and these type of players."
