Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney decline to film 'emotional' scene for 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary

The 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary excluded a poignant moment from the promotion celebrations that was charged with emotion.

Last Saturday, Wrexham secured their spot in League Two with the support of their Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

To regain their position in the English Football League, the Welsh club had to overcome a one-goal deficit and ultimately triumphed over Boreham Wood with a score of 3-1.

Once the final whistle blew at The Racecourse, the club commenced their jubilant celebrations to mark their significant accomplishment.

Wrexham captain Tozer has now revealed it was nice to speak to Reynolds and McElhenney without the cameras as Wrexham have been working with Disney+'s on a documentary series titled 'Welcome to Wrexham'.

As per The BBC, Tozer said: “It was nice to get to chat with them without the cameras.

“We went over to the lounge where the owners were and some of the family came as well. The music was bouncing and there were great celebrations.

“Usually the cameras are full-on and in your face and whenever you chat it can put you off a bit.”

Tozer added: “So it was nice to have a bit more emotion and personal touch to it. It probably still hasn't sunk in. We've all enjoyed ourselves and rightly so.”

Although their objectives have been achieved, Tozer has stated that the team will be professional as they take on Torquay in their last match of the season this weekend.

He added: “We've got to respect the league.

“If the shoe was on the other foot and we were them or we were Maidenhead [Torquay's relegation rivals], we'd expect or want the team that had won the league to respect the league and to show respect to them.

“It's about full respect and we've got a record which we want to improve on and hopefully set a record that can never be broken.”

On the challenge that lies ahead in League Two, Tozer said: “The pressure will be on us again next year - if it's not from the outside world it will firmly be from ourselves.

“That's just the standards we kind of set for ourselves as players and as a club, so bring it on basically after a few weeks enjoying this moment.”
