Man United supporter gains online popularity after falling on live TV in the Sevilla away end

A Manchester United supporter became a social media sensation after a video of him falling onto fellow fans in the Sevilla away end during a live TV broadcast went viral.

Manchester United were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night following a crushing 3-0 defeat to Sevilla in the second-leg quarter-final match held at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Manchester United's captain, Harry Maguire, who was already facing criticism, made a mistake for the first goal of the match, allowing Youssef En-Nesyri to score and give Sevilla a 1-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes.

Sevilla's Loic Bade doubled their lead just two minutes after the second half began, scoring a looping header. Later in the game, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea made a mistake, allowing Youssef En-Nesyri to score his second goal of the match in the 81st minute.

In Spain, while the Europa League match was taking place, a fan of Manchester United seemed to have lost his balance and fell forward onto a man and a woman who were seated in the away section.

The fans of Manchester United rallied around the man who had stumbled, helping him to his feet. The camera captured the moment before cutting away, leaving the outcome unknown.

Sevilla's win against Manchester United secured their spot in the Europa League semi-finals, where they will face off against Juventus. The Italian team advanced to the semis after eliminating Sporting CP in the quarter-finals.

Erik ten Hag was unable to secure a second major silverware for United, as their hopes were dashed by Sevilla. He expressed disappointment with his team's performance during the match.

The United manager has urged his players to bounce back and “show more character and personality” in their FA Cup semi-final clash against Brighton on Sunday.

Speaking to BT Sport, Ten Hag said: “We have to do better, that’s the demand. We were not composed, not calm.

“We didn’t beat the press, when you do there are so many spaces behind, and it was obvious at the start how to do it.

“We lost the battles, they had more passion, more desire, more willingness, that’s difficult to win games.

“We can’t run away from it. On Sunday, we have another opportunity and have to step up and show more character and personality.

“It’s not about them [the players they were missing], it’s about the players on the pitch.

“They have to perform, I believe in them and trust them, but they have to show it and they were not good enough.

“We have shown on so many occasions good things but tonight we weren’t ready for the game.

“At this level, playing for Manchester United, you have to be ready for every game.

“This was a great opportunity, a great occasion, to win something and we gave it away -- we have to blame ourselves. It’s gone, we can’t change it. We have to look forward to Sunday, that’s the next opportunity.”
