On Sunday evening, club captain Ben Tozer was seen celebrating Wrexham's promotion to the Football League with Bootlegger, a fervent supporter of the team who is known locally.

Karl Phillips, also known as Bootlegger, has gained widespread online popularity in recent years due to his thrilling matchday YouTube vlogs that offer continuous entertainment to a large audience.

The renowned online personality continues to show his unwavering support for his beloved team, Wrexham, using catchphrases like "It's gonna get tasty baby" and "I've had an absolute grueller".

Phillips, who was born in Gwersyllt, chose to commemorate Wrexham's victory in their title-winning match against Boreham Wood by meeting up with his friends at The Fat Boar pub in the town.

In the video below, Bootlegger, shirtless and in high spirits, is seen in the company of Ben Tozer, who joined the newly-crowned National League champions after departing League One team Cheltenham in 2021.

Together with a sizable group of fans, Bootlegger and Tozer modified the lyrics of "Allez, Allez, Allez" to create their own chant, followed by a rendition of "we hate Chester".

There is also a video of the enthusiastic Wrexham supporter singing 'Stand by Me' on the karaoke, which you can watch below.

This season, Bootlegger, who is a frequent guest on talkSPORT, went on air to express admiration for Phil Parkinson's team.

“The sky's the limit for us since the takeover," he said back in January. "It’s good that we’re no longer looking over our shoulders, worrying about financial issues."

The internet sensation also shared details about his path to becoming one of the most popular football supporters in the nation.

“Football wasn’t really on my radar as a young lad. I was too busy ducking and diving," he added. “In all honesty, I was more interested in going out gallivanting with my mates in the Nineties and doing what young lads do.”

He added: "After a few videos of just larking about, I went on to vlog my match-day experiences. My first was for a home match – Wrexham v. Cambridge. I uploaded the video and titled it ‘Bootlegger MOTD’.

"It gained a bit of a cult status amongst the Wrexham diehards. Before long, I found myself interviewing various locals.

“I got the knack of editing and embedding graphics. I really did think I was going to be Wrexham’s answer to Steven Spielberg. I created different characters, like Bubba Ball Bag and Taffy. These were the main protagonists. But there was one character that didn’t require so much acting. He was ‘The Bootlegger’, AKA The Captain.

"The Captain would attend games proudly wearing the red Wrexham shirt and a brown leather jacket, which I christened ‘The Italian Pigskin’.

"The Italian pigskin wasn’t from Italy and I doubt it was even made of leather, but the rain wouldn’t half bounce off it.”
