Wojciech Szczesny leaves the pitch in tears after suffering 'chest pains'

WOJCIECH SZCZESNY was left in tears as he was subbed off for Juventus against Sporting.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper took no chances as he reportedly started to feel chest pains and immediately called for a substitution.

Team-mate Manuel Locatelli was first on the scene when the Pole put his hand on his chest, and immediately alerted the medics.

Szczesny made a string of good saves to keep Juventus level against their Portuguese opponents in the first half.

But as a result of his chest issue he had to be replaced by Mattia Perin.

According to Italian journalist Romeo Agresti, Szczesny experienced palpitations after medical checks, but everything is thought to be okay.

Thankfully, Juventus later sent out a brief tweet confirming that at first indication, the goalkeeper appears to be fine.

The club wrote: "After a first check, everything is ok for Tek."

And opponents Sporting tweeted "Força, Szczęsny", or "stay strong".

Goal Italia reports that Szczesny suffered palpitations and reported an increased heart rate and shortage of breath.

After coming off, he was immediately sent to the Juventus medical centre for checks, where the electrocardiogram result came back negative.

However, he is set to undergo further tests tomorrow.

Szczesny spent eight years at Arsenal, where he came through the academy, before spending two years on loan at Roma in 2015 and joining Juve permanently in 2017.
