Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to leave AC Milan in the summer

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to leave AC Milan this summer, but the star forward could remain in the Serie A with another team keen on snapping him up.

The 41-year-old returned to Milan from LA Galaxy in 2019, having enjoyed a two-year spell earlier in his career.

He has scored 37 goals in 78 appearances in his second stint at the club, inspiring his side to the Scudetto last season.

The towering-star also won the Serie A title during his first spell and won three league titles with fierce rivals Inter Milan.

But Ibrahimovic has only managed four games in all competitions this term, having been plagued with injuries.

As a result, Milan look set to release the Swede when his contract expires at the end of the season.

That's according to Foot Mercato, who claim the club are not looking to offer him a new contract in the summer.

However, he could continue to ply his trade in Italy's top flight as the report suggests that Monza are monitoring his situation ahead of tabling a deal.

Monza, who are 13th in Serie A, would be interested in acquiring Ibrahimovic ahead of the 2023/24 season if he decides to keep on playing.

But if Ibrahimovic decides to hang up his boots, then it'd bring an end to a storied career, having played for some of the biggest teams in world football.

He's been prolific in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, France and England, winning silverware wherever he has played.

Ibrahimovic starred for Inter before securing a move to Barca, then dominated at Paris Saint-Germain. He moved to Manchester United, where he won the Europa League and EFL Cup.

He ventured to the MLS with Galaxy before returning to Europe with Milan.

Ibrahimovic will go down as one of the best strikers of his era when he eventually calls time on his career.
