Brighton FC Under Fire for Excessive Celebration of Victory Against Man Utd 'like a cup final'

The exuberant celebrations of Brighton and Hove Albion's players after their narrow victory against Manchester United were deemed excessive by some fans.

The match, played on Thursday evening, was significant for both teams; Brighton aimed to maintain their momentum towards qualifying for European football, while United sought to secure their position in the top four.

The game was mostly uneventful, with the climax occurring in the dying seconds of the match, when a VAR check ruled that Luke Shaw had handled the ball inside the penalty area.

Upon reviewing the incident on the sideline monitor, referee Andre Marriner awarded a penalty kick.

Alexis Mac Allister confidently took the penalty and scored, securing a 1-0 win for Brighton.

Subsequently, a video clip from inside the Seagulls' dressing room was released, causing a stir among fans on social media.

One said: “Another ‘we beat United’ dressing room video.”

Another tweeted: “Where’s the trophy must be there somewhere.”

A third fan added: “Have they won the premier league or something?”

Someone else wrote: “Great result but no need to celebrate like you’ve just won a cup final!”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Did they win the league today?”

Brighton will be back in Premier League action on Monday as they take on relegation-threatened Everton.
