Fans mock ‘desperate’ David Beckham after he paid tribute to King Charles

David Beckham, the former Manchester United and England football player, has been labeled as "desperate" for paying tribute to King Charles and Queen Camilla.

David Beckham, who had a successful career playing for teams such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint Germain, has a close relationship with the Royal Family.

David Beckham and his family have been known to attend various royal events, including the weddings of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

David Beckham faced criticism from fans who deemed his social media post as 'desperate' ahead of the King's coronation.

Despite his previous close ties with the Royal Family, the tribute to King Charles and Queen Camilla was met with disapproval from some of Beckham's followers.

David Beckham's recent Instagram post featured a tribute to King Charles III and Queen Camilla, along with six pictures of the Royals. The former Manchester United and England star is known to be close to the Royal Family and has previously attended important events such as Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in 2011 and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in 2018. However, some fans criticized Beckham's post and labeled him as 'desperate.'

Fans were quick to react to Beckham’s post.

One said: “B*** licking your way to a knighthood, one cringing post at a time.”

Another commented: “Damn, my whole life I’ve admired you. The only time you needed to take a stand, you didn’t. (I’m a big soccer fan. Yet, this [changes] everything).”

A third fan added: “Charles just give the man a knighthood at this point he’s begging.”

Someone else wrote: “The man is desperate for his knighthood, someone just give it him.”

Whilst a fifth agreed: “Beckham will not stop until he becomes Sir David Beckham.”

David Beckham was awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the late Queen Elizabeth II for his services to football on June 13, 2003. Despite expectations, Beckham has not yet been knighted.

On Beckham’s post, one person questioned whether it was appropriate to stage the coronation during the cost of living crisis in the United Kingdom.

The user stated: “Seems deeply inappropriate to have such an unnecessary and expensive party when the country is quite frankly a mess with millions in financial crisis. The Monarchy is outdated and has long outstayed its welcome.”
