Jamie Carragher Takes a Dig at Gary Neville Over Glazers Blame Game After Manchester United's Defeat

In light of Manchester United's recent 1-0 defeat to West Ham, which marked their second consecutive loss and put their top four position in jeopardy, Jamie Carragher has taken a jibe at fellow pundit Gary Neville for attributing the defeat to the club's ownership.

While Said Benrahma was the one to secure the victory, a number of people have placed responsibility for the outcome on David de Gea, who allowed the Algerian's long-range shot to slip past him in a shocking mistake.

It was a second 1-0 defeat away from home for Erik ten Hag’s side, following a loss to Brighton where they were dominated by the Seagulls.

In Ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford the club has ended a six-season trophyless run with the Carabao Cup, and still have the FA Cup final to come against local rivals Man City.

However, off the field, the season has been dominated by their ownership situation, with the Glazer family open to selling the Premier League giants and inviting bids from numerous parties.

And  Neville took aim at the American owners post-match on Twitter.

“United so poor in this game,” he wrote. “ETH seeing more of the players in these situations is a positive. Allows him to sort out who he wants on the bus.

"The real disgrace are the Glazers. Are they waiting for the last game at OT to pass??? It would be typical of them. Weak and shirking accountability and responsibility to the end!

“Members of staff on and off the pitch are in an uncertain position waiting for new owners! Let alone recruitment and what budget there is going to be! This should have been done! Classless to the end!”

And Carragher couldn’t help but aim a barb at his punditry partner and old rival on the pitch.

The Liverpool legend wrote: “Yeah the Glazers decided to play Weghorst as a 10, spend 90M on Antony & 70M on Casemiro (31) on a 5 yr deal!!”
