Man City players and staffs guided off as fans invade the pitch before trophy presentation

Sections of Manchester City fans booed those that pitch invaded before their Premier League trophy presentation.

Pep Guardiola’s side sealed a 1-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday but had already won the title on Saturday after Arsenal lost to Nottingham Forest.

However, as the final whistle blew, some City fans ran on the pitch in celebration, some armed with sky blue smoke bombs.

And Sky Sports co-commentator for the game Gary Neville said he could hear those in the upper tiers booing as the scenes unfolded on the pitch.

After the Man City stars were guided by the tunnel as fans spilled over onto the turf, the tunnel was guarded by a line of police.

Eventually, the fans returned to their seat to allow preparation for the trophy to begin.

Julian Alvarez’s first-half goal was all Man City needed to beat a flat Chelsea side.

The visitors’ best chances came from Conor Gallagher, whose header crashed against the post before ex-Man City star Raheem Sterling had a shot well saved by Stefan Ortega.

Premier League champions Man City are now seven points ahead of second place Arsenal with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea remain in 12th.
