Napoli's 33-year wait ends in glory: Fans erupt in celebration as club clinches first Serie A title

Napoli's long-awaited triumph in Serie A has been confirmed with a draw against Udinese.

The previous weekend, Napoli was poised to claim their first championship in 33 years at their home ground, Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, but their plans were foiled when Salernitana scored a late equalizer to prevent their celebration.

Napoli headed to the Dacia Arena on Thursday night with the knowledge that a single point against Udinese would be sufficient to secure the championship.

Luciano Spalletti's team, however, got off to a disastrous start as Sandi Lovric netted for Udinese after only 13 minutes. In the second half, Napoli emerged as a transformed side and managed to level the score in the 52nd minute through a goal from Victor Osimhen.

Napoli's fortunes turned around as Osimhen's goal proved to be decisive, and the match concluded with a 1-1 draw, effectively securing Napoli's status as the champions of Italy. Fans flocked to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to witness their team's remarkable achievement.

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “WOW, Napoli fans sure know how to celebrate, incredible scenes.”

Another tweeted: “Proper real football club.”

A third fan added: “Imagine being in Naples tonight, what a football club, what a fanbase.”

Someone else wrote: “Truly incredible scenes inside the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona tonight, congrats to Napoli. What an achievement."

In addition to the jubilant scenes outside the stadium, the Napoli squad celebrated their victory in a spectacular fashion inside the Dacia Arena in Udine.

Some supporters even made their way onto the pitch to share the historic moment with their beloved players.

Napoli's manager, Luciano Spalletti, was visibly moved as he shared a heartfelt embrace with his coaching staff after the final whistle.

The party will continue for the rest of the night in Naples as Napoli are finally back on top of Italian football after a long long wait.
