Real Madrid 'flop' Eden Hazard confirms club he’ll play for next season

Eden Hazard has revealed he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid before his contract runs out in 2024.

Hazard became Real Madrid’s most expensive signing when he joined the La Liga giants from Chelsea in a £130million deal in 2019.

But since his arrival in the Spanish capital, Hazard has struggled for form and fitness and has been a shadow of the player who made his name at Stamford Bridge.

He has made just one league start this season and was a substitute in Real’s 2-1 Copa del Rey victory over Osasuna on Saturday evening.

The Belgian accepts that his season hasn’t gone to plan but confirmed he plans to see out his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“It’s been a difficult year, but with a very big team,” the 32-year-old told Cadena SER, per the Daily Mail.

“Honestly, I’m planning to stay at Real Madrid next season. I expect to stay as I want to celebrate the last year of the contract I have left.

“I have a good relationship with the club and with the players too. I want to play, but I know it’s very difficult. I have to work and hope I can play more.”

Hazard has netted just four league goals since his arrival at the club – a far cry from his spell at Stamford Bridge where he scored 110 goals in 352 games.

Game time has been his biggest obstacle this season with just 331 minutes amassed for Los Blancos across all competitions.

His season was compounded by a disappointing World Cup campaign with Belgium, who crashed out at the group stage in Qatar.

Hazard subsequently called time on his international career in the wake of the Red Devils’ poor showing.
