Wrexham set to be Pochettino’s first game in charge as Chelsea manager

Mauricio Pochettino has finally been announced as the new manager at Chelsea ahead of next season.

His arrival was confirmed on Monday afternoon, and the Hollywood inspired Wrexham look set to be his first opponent at the Blues.

Pochettino will begin his role as the new Chelsea boss at the beginning of July.

Fans will be able to get their first taste of life under the Argentine just a couple of weeks later as they being their pre-season schedule.

Chelsea will travel to the United States for five friendly matches, with recent National League champions Wrexham first on the agenda.

The Welsh outfit secured their return to the football league last month, with Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continuing their fairytale.

Wrexham will also face Manchester United across the pond, but a clash against Chelsea is set to be an intriguing encounter.

The Blues will play against them at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on 19 July.

Just three days after that, they will kick-off their participation in the Premier League's Summer Series.

Chelsea will face Brighton, Newcastle and Fulham, before capping off their trip with a meeting against Borussia Dortmund in August.

Like most pre-season schedules, managers will be given the chance to try out new players and formations ahead of the new campaign.

For Pochettino, the aforementioned opponents will provide strong tests as he looks to improve on the Blues' 12th place Premier League finish.

Even though it's a friendly match, the Argentine will be keen to get off to the best possible start in his first outing as Chelsea boss.

Wrexham will surely be up for the task as both they and the Blues embark on very different new chapters.
