Haaland admits he takes inspiration from Ronaldo

Erling Haaland admits he takes inspiration from Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo in a bid to improve his game.

Haaland might now belong to the blue half of Manchester as he looks to lead them to Champions League glory. But this doesn’t stop him from looking to someone who graced Old Trafford in a bid to get even better.

Haaland has plundered 52 goals in his first season in English football. He said: “For me the best at this (movement in the penalty box) is Cristiano.

“Because he takes a movement, and another one, then he goes. I’ve been watching him a little bit in games and so on.

“Also with him the timing and the finishing, that’s why he’s been scoring so many goals.” Haaland will be hoping to emulate Ronaldo, a five-time Champions League winner, when he lines up for City at the Ataturk Stadium.

City can win the Treble and Haaland added: “We’re going to have a lot of the ball, we’re going to try to create things. I’m going to try to be within the 16 metres and try to tap in a goal. It would be nice.”

Inter Milan stand in the way of Haaland and City as major underdogs heading into European football's premier fixture. Pep Guardiola's side have never climbed the Champions League mountain, having lost to Chelsea in the final in 2021.

Inter, on the other hand, have conquered Europe before - and their most recent win came back in 2010 under Jose Mourinho. However, they go into the clash unfancied against Guardiola's juggernaughts.
