Harvey Elliott scores incredible solo goal for England U21s vs Germany

Liverpool star Harvey Elliott scored an incredible solo goal for England U21s against Germany after running with the ball from his own half.

The 20-year-old is currently representing the Three Lions in the U21 European Championships, with Lee Carsley's side winning both of their opening games against Czech Republic and Israel.

Elliott had to settle for cameo appearances in both fixtures, but was rewarded with a start against Germany.

The Three Lions went into the game knowing that they need just a point to top Group C and progress to the quarter-finals.

England took a fourth-minute lead through Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer, who combined with club team-mate Jacob Ramsey.

It was then Elliott's turn to strike - and he did so in style.

Receiving the ball inside his own half from Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, Elliott spotted the Germany goalkeeper Noah Atubolu off his line - and an opportunity.

He then glided effortlessly between the lines, beating a defender for pure pace as he charged towards the 18-yard box.

Elliott then shifted the ball on to his left foot upon reaching the area, firing it into the bottom right corner.

England go into the break at 2-0 ahead. If the result is the same at full-time, the Three Lions will top the group, with Germany going out of the competition.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will no doubt have been impressed by the midfielder's strike - and fans on social media loved it as well.

One fan wrote: "Harvey Elliott that is outrageous."

And another said: "Has to start the majority of games for Liverpool next season, his talents are wasted on the bench."

A third simply added: "Harvey Elliott is special."

A fourth wrote: "Harvey Elliott channelling his inner Maradona."

Another fan, meanwhile, saw Elliott's goal as another sign of England's quality: "That was some goal from Harvey Elliott. The England U21s look very impressive. Attack with pace and in great numbers!"
