Man Utd fans beg 'bring him in' after loan star scores five in pre-season clash

Manchester United fans want the club to re-sign five-goal hero Marcel Sabitzer thanks to his pre-season heroics.

The Austrian midfielder has returned to Bayern Munich after spending the season on loan at Old Trafford, during which time he scored three goals across 18 appearances and helped Erik ten Hag's men to Carabao Cup glory.

The 29-year-old, who has a contract that runs until the summer of 2025, was named in Thomas Tuchel's side in their squad to take on FC Rottach-Egern and certainly impressed by scoring five goals as they ran out 27-0 winners.

One United fan wrote on Twitter: "5 goals in 20 min, I have seen the light. Sabitzer bring him in." A second said: "Shouldn't have let sabitzer go. Man was class."

A third posted: "Sabitzer scored 5 tonight. Ten Hag needs a midfielder of that calibre in United’s midfield…"

Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel also scored five, with three for Serge Gnabry and one each for Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Noussair Mazraoui, Dayot Upamecano, Leroy Sane, Raphael Guerreiro, Ryan Gravenberch, Kingsley Coman and Sadio Mane.

Across two friendlies with the ninth-tier side, Bayern have fired in as many as 50 goals, days after Serie A outfit Sassuolo celebrated a 22-0 hammering in Italy.

Most fans haven't got carried away with Sabitzer's goal-scoring exploits against the minnows, despite him showing glimpses of his talent.

Back in April, Ten Hag reserved praise for the former RB Leipzig man as his loan deal was coming to an end.

He said: "He’s [Sabitzer] doing fantastic. "He’s adjusted well to Manchester United and the Premier League. He is a great person and suits the dressing room well.

"He’s an intelligent player and we’re happy with his role at this moment."

United's own pre-season schedule gets underway against Lyon on Wednesday (July 19), with fixtures to come against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund among others.

Fans will be keen to see Mason Mount in action following his £60million switch, as well as a returning familiar face.

Jonny Evans has rejoined the club on a short-term deal after training with the team - and the club have even been told to make him their new captain.
