Mason Mount Arrives for Medicals Ahead of High Profile Move to Manchester United
Mason Mount arrived at Carrington on Monday morning to undergo his medical ahead of his proposed move to Manchester United.
The 24-year-old is understood to have arrived at United's training complex in a van at around 8am, with photographers snapping the vehicle that was carrying the England midfielder.
Mount could be formally announced as a United player in the coming days and could even make his debut for the club when they face Leeds in Oslo next week.
United reached an agreement to sign the midfielder from Chelsea for an initial £55million fee, with a further £5million due in add-ons last week.
It is understood the £5million in add-ons is strongly dependent on winning trophies, with sources insisting United would be happy to eventually pay £60million, given it would mean Mount will have contributed to success at Old Trafford.
Mount had already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract, with the option of a further year, a month before the agreement was reached between the two clubs.
He will be the first new arrival in the transfer window once he completes his medical, which was scheduled for Monday morning because he was away on holiday last week.
The England international was out of contract at Stamford Bridge next season and wanted to join United, who were reluctant to overpay for somebody they could sign for free in 2024.
Erik ten Hag wanted to add a younger midfielder to his side this summer and made Mount a priority. He has followed his progress closely since an impressive loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem in the 2017/18 and wanted to sign him on loan for Ajax the following season.
With a deal for Mount now in place, United will turn their attention to a goalkeeper and a striker as Ten Hag seeks to further strengthen his squad.
