Real Madrid coach Ancelotti responds to first Mbappe question of preseason tour
Real Madrid defeated AC Milan 1-0 in a friendly match on Sunday night, their first victory of the new season. Carlo Ancelotti's side trialled a new formation, with Jude Bellingham playing as a number 10 and Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes up front.
Ancelotti was asked about both Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe in the post-match press conference. He praised Bellingham as a "fantastic player" and said that he "adds something else to this squad, that has an extraordinary quality." He also refused to be drawn on the Mbappe question, saying that he had "answered all the questions."
The new formation that Ancelotti is trialling could be used to accommodate Mbappe if he joins the club later in the window. Mbappe could slot into Rodrygo's place, although it is not clear whether Ancelotti would want to drop Rodrygo.
The match was a good start for Real Madrid, but they will need to improve if they want to challenge for the La Liga title this season. They face Barcelona in their next friendly on Wednesday.
