Chelsea plotting six-player fire sale after Todd Boehly's mass spending spree
Chelsea are planning a mass exodus this summer as Todd Boehly looks to balance the books following a summer of spending.
The Blues have already signed Moises Caicedo for a British record transfer fee of £115 million from Brighton, whilst Romeo Lavia and Michael Olise are expected to follow suit for a combined £90m.
But the west London club are going to need to recoup some of that money through player sales following reports that Premier League rivals could launch an official complaint on the back of their copious spending.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will be eager to stay the right side of Financial Fair Play (FFP) after they were placed on a FFP watchlist by UEFA last September.
Among those rumoured with an exit is Conor Gallagher, according to the Evening Standard, despite the fact he started Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
The 23-year-old is thought to be on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs, but Gallagher is allegedly eager to stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.
Other players expected to depart include Hakim Ziyech, claim The Mirror, who has been unable to stamp his mark since signing from Ajax back in 2020. Callum Hudson-Odoi is another wide player who has struggled to establish himself in the capital.
The Englishman was previously the subject of offers from German giants Bayern Munich, but Chelsea were keen to keep him in the squad to see how he developed.
However, the report adds that Maurico Pochettino's side are willing to part ways with their academy graduate, with several players currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
Romelu Lukaku is the third name expected to leave Chelsea, just two summers since he joined for a then-club-record fee of £97.5m, with the Blues resigned to making a hefty loss on the Belgian striker.
Finding a buyer has proved challenging, however, with Inter Milan no longer interested in signing the 30-year-old, whilst a move to Juventus has been cast into doubt.
Nevertheless, Pochettino has been vocal in his expectation that Lukaku will seek a new challenge as he trains away from the first-team squad.
21-year-old Dutch winger Ian Maatsen is the next name off the chopping block, despite coming off the bench against Liverpool on Sunday.
Finally, Trevoh Chalobah, who managed a decent run in the side under Frank Lampard at the back end of last season, could also be shown the door following the arrival of central defender Axel Disasi from Monaco, who scored the equalising goal against Liverpool.
