Marcos Alonso turns down two-year deal from Man United for ONE reason
According to reports, Marcos Alonso wants to stay at Barcelona and is not ready to make a loan move to Manchester United this summer.
Marca journalist Luis Rojo insists that the Spain international is not keen on making the move back to the Premier League and wants to stay at Barcelona.
Rojo wrote on Twitter: “Marcos Alonso does not see clearly his departure to United. He continues with his idea of fulfilling his contract at Barca.”
The Red Devils are looking for a temporary solution to their lack of fit and available left-backs following news Luke Shaw could miss up to two months.
Shaw has picked up a muscular injury, leaving Erik ten Hag in a difficult position with Tyrell Malacia also absent and Brandon Williams departing on loan to Championship side Ipswich Town.
Ten Hag has publicly suggested that ManUnited can cope despite having no available senior left-backs – but the Red Devils are making moves in the market to bring in a replacement on loan.
“Definitely we have the solutions in our squad to cope with that,” Ten Hag said on Friday in his pre-match press conference.
“We thought before the season about this scenario, what could happen.
“You hope to avoid this scenario, that’s also clear, but if it happens, you have to be ready for it and we are ready to deal with it.”
The Red Devils offered Alonso a two-year deal, which would have seen him remain at Old Trafford after his current contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season.
