Rasmus Hojlund arrives at Man Utd injured as fans face wait to see new signing in action

Manchester United new boy Rasmus Hojlund will have to wait to make his debut having arrived at the club with a small injury he picked up in pre-season with Atalanta.

Hojlund emerged as United's No 1 target to come in as Erik ten Hag's new central striker after being priced out of a move for Harry Kane.

Atalanta proved tough negotiators but with United initially reluctant to pay more than £60million, but a fee was finally agreed at the end of last month with United stumping up £72m. The Dane has put pen to paper on a long-term five-year deal with the option of another year.

And he was finally unveiled as United's newest signing during the club's friendly against Lens on Saturday. His arrival comes just a week before the Premier League season started with Erik ten Hag originally wanting the striker signing done in time for their match against Wolves.

But, while Hojlund has now officially arrived as United's third signing of the summer, he'll play no part in their Premier League opener. United have confirmed that Hojlund picked up a 'small issue' during pre-season with Atalanta.

The knock has ruled Hojlund out of action for the start of the Premier League campaign. It's claimed that Hojlund may still need 'a few weeks' to get up to full speed and put himself in contention to make his debut.

United begin the season at home to Wolves on August 14 before travelling to London for a fixture against Tottenham on August 19. They finish the month against Nottingham Forest before a crunch clash with Arsenal at the start of September.
