Premier League's cheapest squad named — even 3 Championship teams are well above
Premier League clubs are the pinnacle of the English football pyramid but this season, we have a club that looks the least like part of the elite.
Luton Town have yet to win a Premier League game in their history with their squad estimated at €85.30m by Transfermarkt. This is by far the lowest in the Premier League with Sheffield United coming second lowest at €135.68m.
Three clubs in the Championship have their squad estimated at much higher: Leicester City (€252m), Southampton (€247.8m) and Leeds United (209.5m). This doesn't take a genius to see why though.
At this point, it's important to point out that Transfermarkt's estimations are based on public opinions and may not reflect the real value footballers have to their club. Still, it gives you a good idea on the player and team value.
Luton's three most valuable players as per the tool are Albert Sambi Lokonga (€12m), Ryan Giles (€9m) and Issa Kabore (€7m). Lokonga and Kabore are on loan from Arsenal and Man City, respectively.
The Hatters will probably need a miracle to stay up although they haven't been all that gloom. They were denied what seemed like a stonewall penalty in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham which, if converted, could've given them their first point.
