Jamie Carragher ruthlessly mocks Gary Neville's breakdown of Man Utd takeover update

Jamie Carragher ruthlessly mocked Gary Neville's detailed dissection of Sheikh Jassim pulling out of the race to buy Manchester United.

Sheikh Jassim has reportedly withdrawn his bid to purchase Man United, with the sale process into its 11th month.

The Glazers put the club up for sale back in November 2022 as reports claim Sir Jim Ratcliffe has agreed to buy a 25 per cent stake.

Ratcliffe's minority investment was called into question by Neville, who expertly broke down Sheikh Jassim's latest move and proposed some questions he thinks Man United fans would want answering.

Part of his post on social media read: "It’s worth setting out my non-negotiables on a takeover of Manchester United that I made over a year ago.

"1. A new sporting project 2. A new or redeveloped Old Trafford 3. A New training ground 4. Full redevelopment of the surrounding land to create a Manchester United World and amazing fan experience 5. Pay off the debt and stop taking dividends until the above is done.

"I’m adding a 6th due to events in the last 2-3 years. 6. The club requires leadership that is statesmanlike on major issues that enables a fairer, more inclusive and diverse game. Leadership that builds a positive environment and culture whilst adhering to the clubs values and principles and one that is willing to make tough decisions to prevent an erosion in the clubs public image."

Neville setting out his 'non-negotiables' prompted Carragher into action on social media.

He mocked his fellow Sky Sports pundit, tweeting: "That para is my personal favourite, there’s a few other crackers as well."

Neville hilariously responded: "You can use it when you’re trying to kick your owners out in a few years."
