Ex-Real Madrid and Manchester City manager set to become Real Betis coach

Former Real Madrid and Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is set to become Real Betis coach, according to report.

The report in El Pais said he Chilean, 66, has agreed to sign a two-year contract with the option of a third-year with Betis, who sacked coach Rubi last month.

Real Betis is currently 14th in the La Liga and just nine points ahead of the relegation zone, The club directors want to ensure they remain in La Liga for next season campaign before they hire Pellegrini.

Pellegrini won the Premier League title with City in 2014 as well as two League Cups and had successful stays in Spain’s top-flight with Villarreal, who he took to the Champions League semi-finals in 2006.

Pellegrini was in charge of the Malaga team that reached the quarter-finals in the Champions League for the first time in 2012, losing to eventual finalists Borussia Dortmund.

The Chilean last job was with Premier League side West Ham United, who sacked him last December due to poor results.
