Barcelona reportedly to make first €40m offer for Depay, Lyon to play hardball

The Dutchman is known for his versatility as he can play as a centre-forward, left-winger and even as an attacking midfielder.

Barcelona are expected to go after Lyon's Memphis Depay at the request of Ronald Koeman, Diario Sport report.

The Catalans hope to get the 26-year-old for something around €40m.

When Tottenham Hotspur was interested in the Dutchman, the French team were demanding €55m.

Barca hopes to drop that price tag although it's expected that the Ligue 1 outfit will make the negotiations hard.

Last season, Depay recorded 15 goals and two assists in just 22 matches in all competitions; he missed several months with a serious ligament injury.

Besides the Lyon captain, Blaugrana has also been linked with Donny van de Beek and Georginio Wijnaldum after the appointment of the new coach.
